My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Welcome
We are a non-denominational body of believers in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. In all matters of faith and practice, we submit to Scripture alone and not to man-made doctrines, creeds, or traditions. We invite you to visit with us in person, or contact us with your comments and questions. Our Bible Study page offers brief thoughts on biblical issues, as well as some in-depth studies, both of which we pray will stimulate more interest in what the Bible actually teaches. Your comments and suggestions are encouraged.

We have some special thoughts on abortion this month.

Deceiver, Madman, or Lord?

"Who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:15)  Jesus considered who people believed him to be as essential to salvation.  Without the proper belief in Jesus, who he claimed to be, one will remain lost in sin (John 8:24).  Who Jesus is is as important as what he said, what he did, and what he will do.

It will not do to accept Jesus as a moral teacher and yet deny his claims to absolute authority in your life (Matthew 7:13-27).  It will not do to accept him as a great prophet and yet deny he rose from the dead as he predicted (Mark 8:31), and reject his claims that he is coming again to judge the world (John 5:21-29).  It will not do to accept Jesus as a great spiritual leader and yet deny his claims to deity (John 1:1; 8:58; 11:25-26; et al.).

Jesus is either who he claimed to be or he is not.  If he is not, he was either a deceiver with intentions of malice or a madman with delusions of grandeur.  To believe in him would be insane.  If he is who he claimed to be, he is Lord and God (John 20:28-29).  To not believe in him would be insane.  Who do you say that Jesus is? This Name

On a daily basis, by this name, millions curse and jest, while millions of others bless and pray.  Most of the world even fixes the years in its calendar by this name.  No other name has had the same impact upon civilization; no other name comes close to producing the same emotional, mental, and intellectual responses.

Every religious person recognizes this name, some with joy and reverence, others with disfavor and rejection, and still others with curiosity or indifference.  Even those antagonistic to religion of any kind recognize this name above all others.  Even they realize this is the name to be reckoned with.  This is the name by which the most outrageous claims are made, and the most life-altering challenges are given.  This is the name that demands an answer from everyone:  "for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4.12).

You too recognize this name, and use it daily.  Do you curse and jest by it, or do you bless and pray by it?  Does this name bring you joy and reverence, or disfavor and rejection, or simply idle curiosity or indifference?  Have you reckoned with this name?  Have you been saved by it?
